    Summer School 2023

    Summer School Sites & Grades:
    Teresa Burke Elementary School - Will service Teresa Burke & John L. Prueitt Elementary School students
    TK - 5th Grade
    Ready to Start - Kinder 
    Principal - Keara Fierro
    James A. Forrest Elementary School - Will service James A. Forrest & Karl Clemens Elementary School students
    TK - 5th Grade
    Ready to Start - Kinder

    Palm Avenue Middle School - Will service Thomas Jefferson & Palm Avenue Middle School students
    6th - 7th Grade Only 
    Principal - Carlos Barraza 

    Summer School will focus on learning loss mitigation in students' current grade level. 

    Summer School Dates:
    Thursday, June 1, 2023 and will end Thursday, June 29, 2023
    Monday, June 19, 2023 Federal Holiday - No School

    Summer School Hours:
    Monday - Friday
    8:00 AM to 12:45 PM | Summer School (Academic)
    12:45 PM to 2:30 PM | Summer Camp (Enrichment)
    2:30 PM to 4:30 PM | ELOP ASES (Expanded Learning)  

    Summer School Transportation:
    Transportation will be provided for all three summer school location sites. Transportation will be provided for those students living outside of the 1 (ONE) mile walking radius from the participant school - Ready to Start.  Shuttle buses will be available at all non-summer school locations - Karl F. Clemens Elementary (to James A. Forrest Elementary), John L. Prueitt Elementary (to Teresa Burke Elementary) and Thomas Jefferson Middle School (to Palm Avenue Middle School). Transportation will be provided for the Academic Summer School Program 8:00 AM - 12:45 PM and Summer Camp  8:00 AM - 2:30 PM.  Students who stay for ASES Program will need to be picked up by parents by 4:30 PM.

    Summer School Meal Services:
    Breakfast & Lunch will be provided to all participating students. 

    Other Important Information:
    Summer School will address learning loss mitigation. This program requires the students to attend on a regular basis. 

    Please complete the Summer School permission slip to allow your student to participate. There may be a limited number of students that will be able to participate in the Summer School program. Notification to program participants will be sent to you before the end of May. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact our office at 661.758.7443.

    Summer School Permission Slip:
    Summer School permission slips must be signed and returned to your students school main office by Friday, April 21, 2023. Summer School permission slips will be released Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

    Ready to Start Permission Slip - For your child to participate in the program he or she must be registered in Kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year and have all his/her paperwork complete.
