STUDENT SAFETY

In order for every student to learn and grow we believe creating and providing a safe and welcoming learning environment is crucial. For this reason, WUESD will be implementing the following starting the first day of school.

  • All school sites will minimize campus access and limit nonessential visitors, facility use permits, and volunteers.  Parents/Guardians will NOT be allowed on campus for the first day of school.
  • All school sites will check-in all ‘visitors’ using the Raptor Visitor Management System. This system checks all visitors against the national database for registered sexual offenders.  We ask that you bring a valid identification card (ID) with you every time you need to enter a school campus.
  • All school sites will require all ‘parents/guardians’ to show a valid identification card (ID) when needing to “check-out” their student from school early.  We ask that you bring a valid identification card (ID) with you every time you need to ‘check-out’ your student early from school.

Valid Identification (ID) includes:

  • Driver’s License
  • State‐Issued ID
  • U.S. Military ID
  • U.S. Passport
  • Permanent Resident Card

HEALTH & IMMUNIZATIONS

As part of our efforts to ensure health and wellness, all students entering our schools MUST show proof of immunizations required by California Law. California schools are required to check immunization records for all new student admissions in TK-12th grade and all students advancing to 7th grade before entry.

Refer to: California Immunization Requirements for TK/K–12th Grade (or visit: ShotsForSchool.org)

Your student’s record must include a date for the immunizations administered and the doctor’s/clinic’s name. Proof of immunization records can be provided to the school in two forms:

  • Child’s personal immunization record (e.g., "yellow card")  OR
  • Printed documentation (not a photograph)

All students entering 7th Grade are required to have: Tdap-1 dose of a pertussis-containing vaccine on or after their 7th birthday and 2 doses of varicella vaccine. (Proof of disease for chickenpox DOES NOT meet the immunization requirement.)

California Law requires that schools exclude students until a parent/guardian provides documentation of compliance with the requirements. If you have an updated immunization record, please bring it to the appropriate school site. If you have any questions about immunizations please contact our district’s Health Services Department at 661-758-7190.
