Independent Studies Program

The Wasco Union Elementary School District Independent Studies Program is focused on providing students with an alternative education placement while incorporating the same standards and expectations of the traditional classroom setting.  Independent Studies allows students to maintain strong attendance and academic engagement away from the traditional campus setting.  The option for Independent Studies may be due to a student planning on being out of the classroom (example: out of town trip) during official school days.  Short Term ISP, 1-15 cumulative days, is available for all grade levels in the district.  Long Term Independent Studies, 16 or more cumulative days, is available for grades 6-8 only.  Both programs are supervised by our district certificated staff.

The Wasco Union Elementary School District currently offers two forms of Independent Study:
  • Short-Term ISP: (Grades TK-8) Short-term IS is for pupils participating for no more than 15 school days in a school year.  Short-term IS can be used when a student will be out of the classroom for one or more consecutive days.  For more information contact your student's school office staff.
